Introduce A Girl to Engineering
2009 Planning Committee
IAG Chair
Georgene Geary, P.E.
Georgene Geary, P.E. received a Bachelors in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1985 and quickly learned she was now smart enough to move South where it is much warmer. She became an official Yellow Jacket after receiving her Masters in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech. As the State Materials and Research Engineer for Georgia DOT, she oversees a staff of almost 400 employees who are responsible for all quality testing and materials recommendations for Georgia roadways. Partnering with Universities in Georgia is also an important component in her management of the Research program for the Georgia DOT. Growing up, Georgene was fortunate to have an older brother who went into engineering and encouraged her to do the same; she is a part of IAG to “carry forward” that encouragement for other young girls.
