What is Introduce A Girl to Engineering (IAG)?
IAG is a program that introduces young girls in middle school with a strong interest in math and science to the various fields of engineering. This special event rolls into its eighth year bringing together middle school students from around the state of Georgia to interact and learn from established women in the fields of engineering and technology.
When is IAG?
Saturday, February 18, 2012, Introduce A Girl to Engineering opens the 2012 Georgia Engineers Week Celebration.
Where is the IAG held?
At the Georgia Tech Student Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The female students at Georgia Tech majoring in engineering attend to encourage and motivate the middle school students to continue to strive for excellence in academics and to learn more about the broad scope of engineering.
Why attend IAG?
Introduce A Girl to Engineering is a way of recognizing middle school students’ efforts in class while providing the opportunity for them to imagine and explore the many exciting careers they can consider in engineering.
Who host IAG?
This event is hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology's Women in Engineering Program in collaboration with IBM, and is attended by professional women in the Atlanta area who have chosen career fields related to engineering, math and science. These women are successful, accomplished professionals from the engineering and technology career fields – women who are living proof of how math and science abilities can be used to pursue rewarding professional careers.
