Georgia’s Engineer of the Year competition recognizes deserving and dedicated engineers who have made valuable contributions to their profession and who have impacted our engineering community. The competition is open to all professional engineers throughout the state of Georgia and to students enrolled in a Georgia ABET credited engineering or engineering technology school.

2012 Engineers Week Awards Recipients
The following Engineer of the Year Award Recipients have been selected for various categories: Government, Education, Private Practice, Industry, Young Engineer. At the Awards Gala on Saturday, February 25th, the Georgia Engineer of the Year will be announced.

Purpose of the Award
To honor licensed engineers who have made outstanding contributions to the engineering profession, the public welfare, and/or humankind.
The Awards
The name of the awards presented shall be the Engineer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement in Engineering, Engineer of the Year in Industry, Education, Government, Construction, Private Practice, and Young Engineer of the Year. This acknowledgement of engineers is made possible by the Georgia Engineering Alliance (GEA) and partnering engineering societies and organizations.
The selection of recipients of the Engineer of the Year Awards shall be made by
the Engineering Council of Birmingham with final approval by the Engineers Week
Committee and the Georgia Engineering Alliance Board of Directors.
The award shall consist of an engraved plaque carrying an appropriate citation
and be presented annually at the Georgia Engineers Week Annual Awards Gala.
Eligibility for the Award
Nominees must be submitted by agencies, companies, organizations and
universities. The selection process is based on ratings received for the
engineer’s contributions to the profession, the public welfare, and/or human
kind as listed under the purpose of the award.
