Toothpick Bridge Building Competition

Bridge Building Representative:

GOAL:  To design and build a bridge type structure in one of two categories.

1) Toothpick Category

2)  Open-Materials Category 

 

After entrants have designed and built their bridges, the event provides a convenient, fun-filled place to test them and see how well they work.

Friday, January 20th, 6-9pm, Fernbank Science Center Science Night:  We will need 4-6 engineers to help with approximately 60 students.  We will have the engineers make individual presentations on their disciplines (3-10mins, 6-5mins, or as-needed).  Then, the students will break into three classes where the engineers will help with activities.  The classes will rotate and will include toothpick bridge template making with hot-glue, and other science/engineering activities.  Volunteers will need to arrive by 5:30 for orientation.

Toothpick Bridge Event, February 25th, 1-3, Fernbank Science Center:  We will need 14 volunteers to help with the registration, check-in, testing, and awards. Volunteers will need to arrive by 12:00 for orientation.
